Champion Style 668 Metallic (M) incorporates an Inconel or stainless steel wire reinforcement inside each graphite strand, increasing the valve pressure capability up to 350-400 Bar (5000+ psi) under extreme steam conditions.
Pure graphite in contact with stainless steel valve stems can cause galvanic corrosion in the presence of moisture. Champion Style 668 is treated with an inorganic passive corrosion inhibitor that acts as a sacrificial barrier, protecting the valve stem from pitting.
In steam and inert atmosphere, Style 668 withstands continuous temperatures up to +650°C (+1200°F). In oxidizing atmosphere (air), it is rated up to +450°C (+842°F), and down to cryogenic -200°C.
